Dear friends,

Welcome to the 2022 edition of Malta International Music Festival (MIMF), one of our most important and prolific events here at the EUFSC, and one that I am sure you will enjoy very much.

Following last year’s hugely successful festival when, due to restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to primarily offer our festival online, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you back in person to this event and to share with you the world-class performances that will be taking place.

It is no exaggeration to say that this year’s MIMF represents a pinnacle for our calendar of events in this country, bringing to Malta numerous prolific soloists, conductors and orchestras for a series of concerts presenting some of the very best historical and contemporary classical music.

I am especially pleased to be working alongside our friends at the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, an ensemble we have collaborated with on many projects now, as well as to be bringing to life so many phenomenal concerts at some of Malta’s most prestigious venues.

After what has been an incredibly difficult two years for so many people around the world, it is with considerable joy and pride that I invite you to join us here in Malta for I am sure will be a truly remarkable experience.

Dear guests,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Malta International Music Festival 2022, arguably one of the most prestigious cultural events to take place in our country and one that holds immense value for the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

Our long-standing collaboration with the EUFSC is one we are very proud of, and has yielded many highly successful projects both in Malta and abroad. Nonetheless, despite our past successes — notably including that of last year’s online festival — this edition of the MIMF seems set to surpass the achievements of the past, bringing to our country a great many artists and visiting orchestras, as well as a classical music academy and days dedicated to other cultures from around the world. Truly, this festival continues to expand — both logistically and creatively — and it is with excitement that the MPO looks forward to this great event.

I would also like to offer my personal thanks to Mr Konstantin Ishkhanov, President of the EUFSC, without whose guidance, support and relentless drive this would not be a possibility.

To all our friends both here in Malta and overseas, I would like to thank you for your support and I look forward to greeting you at the Malta International Music Festival 2022.
